Ok, now what?

August 21, 2007

Finally, I’m here! This is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. A blog. One of my own. Why would I want to do this? I kept kicking the idea back and forth. But in reading Kelly’s blog (Kikipotamus) over the last 6 or 7 months, and now having become a regular voyeur on so many others on her blogroll, I’ve come to realize what a fun outlet this can be. Not to mention good therapy. And that may be the main reason I need to do this. I have a lot of stuff kickin around this old noggin of mine. A place to let it out might just be the ticket to release a little stress.

So what can you expect to read here? Who am I, what do I do, what makes me tick, what are my thoughts on crude oil futures prices?? I don’t know. It will depend on my mood. I can guarantee you’ll never read about that last one. But you will certainly get to know me, and who knows, it might be fun. And I’ll try to throw in a few pictures every now and then to keep it interesting.

Today was a good day. After feeling lousy all weekend, and having had a fever of 102F (38.8C) for part of it, I was quite happy to be well enough to get my butt back to work this morning. Sure, I’m way behind on many projects, and I have the usual nonsense to deal with, and it was pouring rain all day, but I was happy. Health and Happiness, they do go well together don’t they?

This city has exploded with construction on almost all the main arteries. At least the ones I need to get home. But with my extensive knowledge of every single side and back street in the city, thanks to way too many years of having to ride the local wheelchair transportation buses, I was able to figure out a little secret detour of my own, and wow, I was home at the same time as usual, if not sooner. And home, well, that’s where I get a kiss and big long warm hug from Kelly as I come through the door.  Coming home has never been this good.

The more I read blogs the more I realize I started mine to join a very unique wonderful community of people that crosses all age groups, interests, parts of the world, lifestyles, etc, etc. etc. What a neat way to make new friends.

I am looking forward to getting to know Kelly’s guy better too. Hey, I only entered her life a bit before you did! Is this a ride or what?

OK — you’ve whetted my appetite and I’m looking forward to more. As for me, I started a blog almost the minute I discovered what blogging was (an outlet for both my pictures *and* my words!) and it’s been a real joy to me so I think you’ll like it. Bon voyage on your upcoming journey.
