Catfish and Backrubs

August 29, 2007

I’ve been reading Kelly’s posts about “My Sacred Life” and it got me to thinking about what things are special to me in my life. Of course, I thank God every day for bringing Kelly and me together, but what examples can I give you to illustrate how blessed I am?

The last couple of days have offered up a few easy choices.

Today is Wednesday. And Wednesday is the day that Kelly has chosen to cook something special for me and my family. I LOVE Wednesdays now. I’ve been working late some nights, but there is NO way I was missing tonight’s dinner. It’s wonderful not only because she is a great cook, but also every single time there is something completely new for me, often something I have never even had before. A few weeks ago it was greens and black eyed peas, another night the side dish was guacamole. All things that, at almost 40, I had never tried yet.  Tonight was no exception. Tonight we were treated to fried catfish with coleslaw and cornbread. It was delicious as usual, I am so stuffed I won’t have to eat tomorrow. The best part is that I know every bite has a little love packed into it.

Tuesday was a particularly long day. This is our busy time at work and the team that I manage is just barely keeping its head above water with deadlines. I worked until around 7:30pm, stopping only briefly for a hotdog from a vendor in front of our building.  By the time I got home I was wiped out. A quick shower and bed was my only plan. When I got into bed, Kelly asked if I needed anything. I mumbled something about rubbing my neck for me, as I was feeling pretty tense. She happily obliged, and provided an extensive full back massage. I was mush. My tension melted away and I felt myself sink into the bed. After that it’s a bit sketchy. I remember the sheet being pulled up, a kiss on the cheek, the whispered words “I love you”. And I remember drifting off to sleep wondering how I ever lived without her.

Boy, Sylvain, you’ve got to be the romantic man I’ve ever HEARD of! You have it DOWN. And best of all you are real, too…you and Kelly are a wonderful and special pair, that’s for sure.

A way to a mans heart is throught his stomach…and a little neck/back rub just ups the ante! Great way to keep the fires stoked in this relationship.
And we need only read Kelly’s posts to know how you reciprocate. A true two way street.
