House Guests
They arrived yesterday. Seven relatives. My dads side of the family. Aunts and uncles from the part of our country where I was born. The very ones that I spoke about in this post. The ones that made me feel so welcomed even though I hadn’t seen them in such a long time. Most are staying with us, some found a motel. Not sure yet how long they are staying, probably at least one more day.
I am enjoying their company very much. And my dad seems happier than I’ve seen him in a long time.
Also, everyone got to meet Kelly for the first time. A little intimidating for Kelly I’m sure, but her french has come along fairly well and at breakfast this morning she was able to understand my aunts when they spoke her, which not only pleased Kelly, but impressed my aunts too! Last night, one of my aunts commented to me that Kelly seemed very young. I said that no, in fact she was a few years older than me. She was surprised. In relaying this to Kelly, I assured her she must look really young. Because surely, it isn’t me that looks so much older. 🙂
Dinner tonight will consist of BBQ Maple Salmon skewers on the grill. I get to show off my mad BBQ’ing skills.
Sorry I haven’t posted in a week, and sorry this is a short one. Life tends to get in the way sometimes.
Okay, now I think that you should start posting recipes, too. I’ve already told Kelly she needs to.
Great post about the relatives landing! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. So glad Kelly could show off her French! And that she looks younger than YOU! Tee hee.
Your family is so brave to invite so many people to come sleep, eat and be guests in their home. Glad your Pa is enjoying himself so much!
