Snow!!!

December 16, 2007

For the first time in many years, it looks like a white Christmas is pretty well guaranteed for us. We got dumped on last night, about 8 inches of snow in one night. I know that may not seem like a lot to some of you, depending where you are from, but for this city, it’s a major storm. And I’m lovin’ it. Ok sure, being in a wheelchair it means I am trapped in my driveway unless I use the van. And it means I can’t go to Starbucks at work, unless I send out a scout to let me know if the sidewalks between us and them have all been shovelled. But hey, it sure looks perty!

Speaking of looking perty, Kelly posted her first video today! After coming in from a walk in the snow, she felt energized and ready for me to set up the camera. You all finally get to see how absolutely adorable she is, and why I know I am the luckiest man alive. If you check it out you get to hear my voice too, a little bonus treat.

While the video was uploading, I went out to help with the final cleanup of our driveway. My neighbour and his son came over to do the brunt of the work and I just did a bit of cleanup. Just to give you an idea of what it looks like, here’s a picture of our front yard, facing my neighbour.

I came back in just as the sky was clearing and the sun was setting. A quick glance out of our patio door at the back of the house provided this view of what mother nature painted on her canvas for us.

Kelly made another wonderful dinner for us tonight. Lamb with a spinach and artichoke heart casserole. I am stuffed. Back to work tomorrow. Four day week. Coasting to the holidays. Life is good.

These photos are great Syl…I am trying to get into the snow mentality as we are going to be in MN in 2 weeks time! I will blog my cold experiences from there.
Wonderful to blow these photos up. So pretty…the snow and the sky in all it’s splendor. Nice that you can get out and enjoy it too.
Now excuse me but I have to rush over to Kelly’s blog and get a front row seat at her Video! I will be listening for you in the background.

We have snow on the ground and more forecast toward the end of the week, so it’s a white Christmas in Denver this year, too!

You showed great restraint, Sylvain, when creating the credits for Kelly’s first video. After all, you not only produced and played the voice of Sylvain (you were a natural for that role), you were the cameraman, the audio engineer, and directed (it’s not your fault that the on-camera talent refused your direction to put on the tuque!). I’m guessing you were also responsible for the post-production work. And, who the heck was the best boy and the grip??

Seriously, it was great fun to watch Kelly read her Farsi beginner’s book, to see how much she loves the language and how much she misses her Irani friends, and to just enjoy seeing her live and in color.

“Yay, baker!” indeed! Good job, Sylvain!!

Dear Sylvian , I’ve just read this post and also the post about the name of your blog… you have a fluent and passionate pen like Kelly’s.
I know Kelly just for a few days but I can assure you that you are really blessed because she’s got such a soul that brightens both the mind and the heart of all people connecting to her… lucky you who live with her…
As an Irainan I’m really poud of this video.. I have not been able to watch it yet. It doesn’t open for me… Aren’t you going to put it on Utube?

Thank you again… and give Kelly hugs on my behalf.

    Hi Human being.
Yes, I am very lucky to have Kelly in my life, believe me I am very appreciative.

Yes the Video is on YouTube. If you search for “Farsi Primer” it should be the only video that comes up. I hope this works for you.

Thanks for reading my blog. 🙂

Thank you very much for the great job you did on the video…. Iranians should really be proud of having such friends…
Your blog is so nice… and I love the photos, too. They are really artistic…
